Why a musical interlude? Because today, Hazel sang in the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Bonifacio Global City. The song was Masterpiece by Sandi Patty and the concert was First Love. Please note that the video is currently uploading so I’ll be updating this post in a few hours. UPDATE: The video is ready for viewing!
George Gabrel asked Hazel a few weeks ago if she could sing in a concert that he was putting together. Just an intimate one with about 500 seats, thus the venue.
She was to sing with three others, each with their own stories about their children. Photos were requested so they could be projected on the screen overhead during the concert. And, in spite of there being rehearsals last February 19, they only got together this afternoon to practice. Such confidence, haha!
Sadly, one of the singers, Trixie, couldn’t make it due to an emergency. The three that were left, Hazel, Joanne, and Moriel, would have to adjust their singing parts accordingly. Since the part of the song that was missing a singer didn’t apply to the currently pregnant Moriel, Joanne and Hazel had to sing Trixie’s parts instead.
So we did the needed preparations for the day of the concert. Hazel went to the salon for a blow dry, and Nixi came along with her accoutrements. We proceeded to the venue soon after and got settled in the dressing room. After a short rehearsal in one of the other dressing rooms, their turn to perform came around.
Here are the lyrics to the song. Since the uploading of the video of the performance will take about 8 hours to finish thanks to Third World internet, I’ll update this post accordingly. But in the meantime, enjoy the message of the song!
By Sandi Patty
Before you had a name or opened up your eyes,
Or anyone could recognize your face.
You were being formed so delicate in size
Secluded in God’s safe and hidden place.
With your little tiny hands and
Little tiny feet
And little eyes that shimmer like a pearl.
He breathed in you a song and to make it all complete
He brought the masterpiece into the world.
You are a masterpiece.
A new creation he has formed
and you’re as soft and fresh as a snowy winter morn.
And I’m so glad that God has given
you to me,
Little lamb of God,
You are a Masterpiece.
And now you’re growing up
Your life’s a miracle.
Every time I look at you,
I stand in awe.
Because I see in you
a reflection of me
and you’ll always be my little lamb from God.
And as your life goes on each day
how I pray that you will see
just how much your life has meant to me.
And I’m so proud of you
what else is there to say
just be the masterpiece He created you to be.
Little lamb of God
You are a Masterpiece
